Ditch needs to be re-dug out

Further to my message on 22 /02/2023 in which you claimed the land in question was not owned by Buckinghamshire Council, I have checked with the Clerk (Ruth) from Dorney Parish Council and it does in fact belong to you. The ditch is on the Trumpers Field on the right side as you look at Dorney Village Hall off the access road. Travellers filled the ditch in approximately two years ago. Now anyone can drive onto Trumper’s Field which has been happening and the football pitch is a mess plus it is unsafe for anyone walking across the field at night like dog walkers. The ditch now needs to be re-dug out and something more permanent put across the exposed area to stop this happening again eg. Trees, fence etc.

  • We know that an important part of any road network is the drainage system which is designed to carry water away from the road surface. As a general rule ditches along the side of the road are the responsibility of whoever owns the land on which they are situated, they should maintain and keep the ditch capable of carrying water away from the road.

    The Local Area Technician will carry out an inspection within 10 days and if it is the responsibility of Buckinghamshire Council and a repair is required, we will carry out the work. If the responsibility is with the landowner, we will write to them and request they carry out the necessary work.
