Multiple problems creating extremely high risk to life
Reported via iOS in the Road lines / road markings category anonymously at 15:43, Fri 17 February 2023
Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4241753.
These problems have been identified and reported in the past and not rectified. There is evidence of vehicles failing to take the turn down Nashleigh Hill. The is a high degree of probability that pedestrians will be severely injured or killed. 1. The street light do not work at the top of Nashleigh Hill last reported in 2019 and not fixed since. This causes a pool of darkness into which drivers drive. 2. The white lines are worn away causing drivers not to take the correct approach studs and verge markers could be used to help drivers position correctly, rumble strips would also help for traffic starting to enter the bend. 3. There are potholes to the nearside of the bend looking down the hill causing ice patches in bad weather and causing vehicles to take a line to the right conflicting with turning traffic coming up the hill. 4. Weak signage and the crash barrier has now been painted yellow. This protects the gas main the building g was destroyed in an accident a number of years ago. I am not sure pairing this yellow completes with chapter 2. 5. There have been multiple events where vehicles have misjudged the bend and left the road crossing or running down the pavement. Because these accidents did. Or cause injury to the vehicle occupants I understand there are not taken into account. 6. A fatal accident WILL happen at this junction it’s just a matter of when.

Update
Transport for Buckinghamshire operates two methods for safety defect identification; proactively by Highway Inspectors who identify safety defects in line with Buckinghamshire Councils' Highway Inspection Policy and reactively by Local Area Technicians following reports from the public. On receipt of reports, our Highway Inspection team make an assessment, determine if works are required and if so, the appropriate response times and repair method. It is in these instances only the larger defects are repaired; those which meet the safety intervention levels as outlined in the Inspection Policy. Any remaining defects are monitored for deterioration and added to other programmes of work for repair when resources are available. We also monitor and inspect the quality of repairs aiming to ensure that any work is carried out to the best and most appropriate standard. It is regrettably the case that the limited annual funding available to Buckinghamshire Council each year is insufficient to address all defects identified. For this reason, whilst priority defects will receive a repair within appropriate timescales as dictated by the above policy, more minor defects such as the defect you have reported may not be immediately scheduled for repair. An order for a repair remains in our system for when resource allows and we will continue to monitor the location for any further deterioration.
Please be assured, we will continue to monitor the area in line with our Highways Safety Inspection Policy.
