Footpath still overgrown

Reported via iOS in the Hedge problem category by Patrick Crotty at 10:40, Mon 30 January 2023

Sent to Downley Parish Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4184407.

This footpath runs uphill to Plomer Hill from Middlebrook Rd through “Rennie Gove Memorial Woodland”. Signage states it as WDC. That means it is TfB responsibilty. Some 200 m is now overgrown. I have reported this but no action taken. Pl fix it. It is a steep dangerous route.

Updates

  • Much of the hedge has been cut back but in places the path remains completely blocked. I want to come across a local resident with his battery operated hedge cutter. I suspect the work done is down to him rather than TfB. I have raised another report with another photograph on “fix my street” this afternoon.

No work has been done at all on clearing the soil, the weeds, the mud, the leaf mould on the surface of the path. In some places the path is completely undetectable. Our council taxes a few years ago paid for this path. If TfB won’t maintain it why should we continue to pay our council tax? This complaint is over six months old

  • What more is there to say? This hard surface footpath paid for by our council tax remains of covered in soil and vegetation.

  • The grass has been cut in the field next to the blocked TfB footpath. You could not invent such an incompetent highway unit as we have in Buckinghamshire.

  • This problem is getting worse. The local authorities grass cutting program is now cutting a separate path parallel with the real one.

Unfortunately the separate path turns into mud in wet weather. Council taxpayers money has been wasted on the hard surface path where it is no longer usable.

  • I contacted the mayor of High Wycombe. it seems that Buckinghamshire council tax no longer take any notice of reports via fix my street if they are not on a public road. As his advice I reported the problem via “PROW”, A website titled “public rights of way“. that was a month ago I have had to acknowledgements but no action. The path is now completely blocked into places and partly obstructed from end to end. It’s been like this for nearly 2 years
