West corner of 'Brill Road' layby
Reported via desktop in the Blocked drain category by John Mole at 21:25, Tuesday 24 January 2023
Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4167588.
Water does not appear to go from the drain (photo 1) into the ditch (photo 2). Oakley Parish Council have cleared out the whole of that ditch and if the water did go into the ditch, it would then go under the B4011(Bicester Road) and into the brook behind 100 Bicester Road. However as it can not drain away, the whole of the layby goes underwater (photo 3) and then it spills into the Bicester Road, which causes major issues, especially to number 98 Bicester Road. Unfortunately Fix My Street only allowed me to attach a fourth photo showing the flooding of Bicester Road.

This has been passed to the Local Area Technician to investigate.
We know that an important part of any road network is the drainage system which is designed to carry water away from the road surface. Even when a gully is clean and well maintained it will only cope with a certain volume of water at one time, a sudden and heavy downpour can still cause flooding especially if the road is in a low lying area.
