Road surface report 40207693

Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4038565.
Re the above, thank you for your response to my request. I was aware of your winter salting route before submitting the request. I appreciate that only a proportion of the county's roads are salted. However, I am asking that the inclusion of Bowers Lane in the salting route be reconsidered (this would involve an extension of the salting route from City Road to the bottom of Bowers Lane of less than 1/4 mile) because of the extreme danger that Bowers Lane poses when it is left unsalted. Bowers Lane is well used by motorists, walkers and horse riders, has several blind bends and any snow quickly turns to ice because the sun does not penetrate through the overhanging trees. Should the decision remain to leave Bowers Lane unsalted, then the Council must accept liability for any death or personal injury that occurs as a result. It is that serious. In my original request I also mentioned the fact that the national speed limit applies to Bowers Lane (there are two signs to that effect at the top of Bowers lane). That issue was not addressed in your response. If you were to send someone to drive down Bowers Lane you would see how inappropriate the national speed limit is. A more appropriate limit would be 20mph given the blind bends and narrowness of the road. Could this now be addressed please?
Many thanks for your assistance in keeping residents safe. Regards Christine Williams
