SL7 3NN surface water flooding from road onto driveway and into property
Reported via desktop in the Flooding on a road/footpath category anonymously at 11:30, Tue 1 November 2022
Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3929342.
At 101 New Road, SL7 3NN, during moderate to heavy rain, water runs off the road and onto our property and the down our driveway causing flooding in our home.
The problem is that the granite setts at the edge of the road have subsided (plus, over time, the road level has risen due to successive resurfacing) and instead of water flowing down the edge of the road to the next drain it flows onto our property. There's a section of approximately 2 metres length of granite setts that appears to be lower than the surrounding ones by a couple of centimetres, and if they were raised to be back in alignment the water would probably remain on the road and flow down the road towards the next road drain and not flood my property.
This morning, November 1st (and on 2 occasions in October) we had a river flowing down our driveway and into our garage which is attached to the house. In previous years we've had approximately one serious flood each year, but this year has been much worse with our garage getting flooded several times and several hundred litres of water needing to be removed.
I'm concerned that in exceptional rain, eg during storms, this will cause expensive damage to my property which it would if it additionally flows into the house through the connecting door to the garage.
Is making this repair within the Council's responsibility? If so, please can you let me know how quickly it can be done?
