Residents of Woodside placed obstacles to prevent parking at entrance to woods and public footpath

For the last 12 months, the residents of Woodside on Brays Lane have been dragging large tree branches into the area shown on the photo to prevent users entering the public footpath and woods from parking on the grass verge on the outside of their property boundary. They have now installed a series of large logs, making the verge inaccessible to vehicles. It is my understanding that under the provisions of the Highways Act 1980 , it is an offence to block, obstruct or damage road verges. This includes rocks, posts, A-boards etc. Given this is a narrow stretch of lane, this area provides the only place available to park for those wanting to use the woods.

This has been passed to your local area technician to investigate the enquiry/issue.
They will carry out an inspection and order a repair if required, this can take up to 20 working days. If however, a replacement bollard/railing is required, we will need to order this as we do not hold them in stock and this can take up to 6-8 weeks.
