Blocked gullets on either side of home called Amberley

Reported in the Blocked drain category by Vicki Arnold at 19:15, Thu 9 May 2019

Sent to Buckinghamshire Council 5 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1625269.

Gullets were cleared last year for first time in approx three years! Three were under water when the contractor came and they did not have a record of where they were situated so missed them. I called them back from the one they were working on and they unblocked them all but now they are already blocked with silt. The surface water now gathers to flood the road between Amberley and Laneside. The drain nearest the Laneside house driveway is still clear (almost full) but I show a picture of the water that pools before this drain. Cars come round the bend and hit this water at high speed. These drains are linked to an under road pipe that takes the water to a holding tank and discharges it into the council dug trench. Sadly despite the council employing a team of contractors for a week to dig this trench ( 3 years ago?) none of the water can get into this trench unless the gullets are cleared every few months. NB I don’t believe the yellow spots on the map correspond to the drains I’m talking about so please look for them on either side of Amberley's driveway.

  • One day of rain and road is totally flooded. I saw a cyclist drenched by a tidal wave of wave this morning. Bottom Lane impassable by foot as flooding so bad. The first photo is of the same drain I pictured above.
