New road surface is dangerously slippery for horses using it Reported anonymously at 22:33, Tue 28 March 2023 The new road surface, laid in the last 4 weeks has increased the speed at which traffic can race up this road, whilst at the same time making it treacherously slippery for horses using this route. The surface is so smoothed out, with no grit which makes it like riding the horses on black ice. All three experienced horses struggled to safely navigate along the newly laid road surfacing on this stretch of road from Mentmore down towards Ledburn. It’s lethal. An accident waiting to happen. If a horse goes down, due to slipping on the surface, the rider will also be unseated. The consequences of such an accident, could prove lethal with the speed of the traffic on this stretch of road
